Greetings All!

We’re off to a great start this year! So far we had a good turn out for Club Day, and New Member Day. The weather was perfect, food was good and the cars were driving great for New Member Day. Our new shop Steve and his sons stopped by for a spin in the cars and had a blast! Also, all of the new members participated in a little hands on competition at the track where they raced against time, and than against us in a tire changing competition. We’re now entering week three of our academic year here at RIT and it is the first Saturday at the shop for the new members in the shop learning how to machine and getting involved. RIT Baja had a very fun and successful race season this year! At the race in Kansas we came out with a 9th place overall finish. And at the final race in Peoria, Illinois, we got a 1st place overall in design and a 8th place overall! Great job everyone. And thank you, of course, to our amazing sponsors for another fantastic year.

It is with great sadness that RIT Baja learned of the passing of Thomas Locke, the lab manager for the MMET machine shop, which is where RIT Baja calls home. Tom has been an integral part of the team for as long as any of us can remember, acting as friend, mentor, and advisor for the entire team. Never turning down an opportunity to help us, Tom also helped keep the shop a safe, clean, and well maintained environment for students to learn and work in. Tom leaves behind a legacy of helping and supporting students that will be impossible to match. He will be sorely missed.

Hello All!

The shop is feeling positive after our first race! Despite various problems with the car and some crazy weather, we walked away from the race in Alabama with a 3rd place in Design and an 8th place Overall! Go RIT!

The few things that needed fixed have been worked on in the past couple weeks and today we are out in the parking lot again testing the car. Things are going great, shop is getting cleaned, spares are being made.

We’re about a month away from our first race in Birmingham, Alabama! The shop is buzzing with machines and everyone busy working. Have a look!

We hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season and a very happy start to the new year!

We’re back from holiday break and back for the long haul. The shop is full and we’re working hard.

Hello All!

We’ve had a great start to our year here at RIT! We’ve been busy roping in new members and revamping our test track. We are now at the end of week 4 of our academic schedule and have a good crop of new members in the shop learning how to machine and getting involved.

New Member Day: We had fantastic weather (for the first time in quite a few years) and an even better turnout of interested new members. We had a great day at the track ripping around the car, grilling, and tossing the football. Below are a few pictures from the day. More can be found on our facebook page.

Track Revamp: We are making some changes to our test track so we test the car on even more extreme terrain. We have added a tire crawl, water hole, some large whoops, a slalom, and a new track through the woods. We are pretty excited to finish it up and try it out! We spent Sunday afternoon meeting a lot of prospective new members at the RIT Club Fair- over 140 of you signed up for the e-mail list!

Next Saturday is new member day, when we’ll take out anyone who’s interested to our test track, have a BBQ, and show off what our cars are capable of. If you’re interested in coming out, meet at the baja shop (building 78, or SLA) next saturday at 10 AM.
